God Brings All the Demons Out

One thing we must never forget is that wherever there is light, there is always going to be shadow. What I mean by this is simple, wherever there is good in this world, evil will always rear its ugly head. If Jesus is mentioned by name, forget about it. The demons come right out. It is crazy to see, but it happens a lot. As a matter of fact, we will be taking a closer look at some these unclean spirits that arise when the Lord is near, which is to say, whenever the light of the world appears, these dark spirits lurk in the shadows.
This is such an important truth for Christians to be aware of, that it is discussed in the first chapter of the first gospel written (well, first written according to scholars and academics, not by me or true believers, but that’s a video for another day) The first chapter of Mark’s Gospel tells us of an unclean spirit who could not deal with Jesus’s presence. We read:
And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day [Jesus] entered into the synagogue, and taught. And they were astonished at his doctrine; for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as scribes.
And there was in their synagogue, a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, saying Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? Art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.
And Jesus rebuked him saying, “Hold thy peace, and come out of him.” And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice he came out of him” (Mark 1:21-26)
So you see, the light of the world showed up and the darkness came out of this man.
Fortunately (or unfortunately depending how you look at it), we don’t have to just imagine what these unclean spirits look like. These demonic episodes pop up on social media all the time. I’m going show a few different clips of the kinds of demons that appear whenever someone preaches the word of God. The demons try to attack and bully the preachers, and when all else fails they scream bloody hell…
Whenever the Word of God is proclaimed, and the name of Jesus is uttered the unclean spirits, cry out against our Lord, much like how we saw in Mark’s Gospel. A recent occurrence of this went viral when Ana Kasparian – who is one of the lead anchors for the left wing news outlet, The Young Turks – let her feelings about Christianity and the Bible be known to the world. When you turn away from God, you don’t turn to the devil. You turn to yourself. Some might say that Kasparian’s rant is anti- God; what I hear it as is pro-selfishness – because that is the root of all hatred or indifference to God…
We got to stop right here for a second. She is way off base here when she calls the bible a mythical book. The Bible is so real in fact, that it is scientifically and mathematically provable. Listen to what Astrophysicist Hugh Ross says about the unerring accuracy of the Bible…
So no, definitely not a mythical book. If I understand Dr. Ross correctly here, what he is saying is, there is more of a chance of us spontaneously combusting than for the Bible to have been even a third as correct as it has been. Simply stated, the Bible is beyond miraculous.
But the larger point that Kasparian seems to be making with her demonic rant against God, is that she hates Christians using the Bible to tell her what to do; she will not be impeded from doing whatever she wants whenever she wants. This is the tension that causes the biggest wedge between atheists and Christians.
Where the former doesn’t believe they should be judged or hindered from their sinning and selfishness at all, and the latter wants to hinder that sinning and selfishness in order to help the selfish sinner live a better and more peaceful life.
True Christians aren’t out here preaching the rules of the Bible in order to judge or control others, true Christians preach so that others can understand what it means to be “saved.” Actress and believer China Anne McClain makes the perfect analogy of a snake in the yard to explain why it is exactly that Christians are always “telling others what to do…”
That analogy is perfect. Most devout Christians become the way we are because we encountered sin ourselves and we saw how it was destroying our life. When we turned to God, on the other hand, we felt the peace we had been desperately searching for all along. It is for this reason that we want to spread the Word of God. If I discovered the secret of the world, why would I want to keep it from you? I don’t. It is for this reason that I suggest following this book. Not because I want to judge you or control you, but because I know you will happier, and the world will be a better place because of it. Jesus really is the savior of the world. I don’t say this from a place of ignorance, but from a place of experience. A life in the shadows is cold, dark, and lonely. And a life that follows the light of the world is one of warmth, brilliance, and love.
Remember wherever the light is, shadows always follow. Be on guard against the unclean spirits and rebuke them in Jesus’s name. Amen.
